Gov. Rick Snyder and Talent and Economic Development Department of Michigan Director Roger Curtis issued the following statements after the Michigan Senate passed the Marshall Plan for Talent bill package -- Senate Bills 941-942.

Gov. Snyder: "Our state's talent gap is a critical issue and our partners in the state Senate today took a big step forward in helping to address that gap head on.

"The Marshall Plan for Talent will ensure Michigan can compete in the race for the best talent with the in-demand skills employers need while enhancing our educational system to better prepare all Michiganders to become lifelong learners.

"I look forward to working with the House to build on today's momentum."

Roger Curtis: "As technology rapidly changes the workplace, Michigan must continue to adapt and enhance the way it builds a talent pool ready to fill the careers of today and the future. The Marshall Plan for Talent is the catalyst for that change.
